Tired of worry thoughts? Try floating your tongue!

Many people struggle with negative thoughts, worry, and feeling distracted or unfocused. Even worse, people can feel distracted and anxious about being distracted and anxious! Sometimes the best way to break these patterns is to give your mind something to focus on without much meaning but which will require a lot of brain power. One exercise for this is "tongue floating." It sounds weird, but is actually an effective tool to develop mindfulness, the practice of being more in the moment.
Here's the basics: 
When you're somewhere with few distractions try and "float" your tongue in your mouth for 60 secs. 
Try to entirely focus on this one task, keeping your tongue in the middle of your mouth but not touching your teeth, cheek, or resting on your lower jaw. If your attention wanders, you'll be able to feel it as your tongue will drift.
This is a great grounding exercise, and can help you learn to control your focus.  Give it a try!
